Home to approximately more than 3,900 citizens, Manchester is known as the Magic City. Manchester was created in 1909 at the time the A.B.A. (Atlanta, Birmingham, Atlantic) Railroad partnered with the Callaway Mills from LaGrange to have their facilities located in Manchester.

Today, Manchester still maintains its industrial roots that are carefully balanced with its small town charm. Named for Manchester, England, the city is nestled in the foothills of the Pine Mountain range. Although a very progressive city, Manchester enjoys a reputation for its simplicity and quality lifestyle.

Designated a "Better Hometown" in 1997, the bustling Main Street is in current transition to a period look of the Thirties - complete with brick storefronts, canvas awnings and original facades.

In keeping with its history, a major annual attraction is Manchester's Railroad Days which takes place every third weekend in October. The event includes a variety of activities, displays, and railroad memorabilia. The city constructed the southeast's first "rail fan" observation deck which overlooks the CSX rail yard providing great views for photographs and train watchers.
